About

Who Am I?

I am post-doc reseaercher in astrophysics, studying cosmic evolution of galaxies: How did galaxies form in the early Universe and how did they evolve into the galaxies that we observe today? To find answers to these questions, I utilize multi-wavelength observations obtained with the largest telescopes in the world such as the Atacama Large Millimeter Array or the Very Large Telescope in Chile.
I am developer of several astrophysical software packages, such as webSME, a stellar (abundance) analysis pipeline, or DGT (Dense Gas Toolbox), that allows to infer physical properties of the molecular gas, specifically taylored for extragalactic research.
I have experience in the exploitation of large astrophysical datasets, covering wavelengths from the far-ultraviolet (e.g. Lyman continuum) to the radio (e.g. hyperfine transition of hydrogen at 21cm). In particular I am interested in multi-line spectroscopy.
Moreover, as an observational astronomer I am concerned about the development of light pollution. Around the world, we see an increase in night sky brightness. In order to preserve the natural night sky for future generations to come, I am involved in light pollution research activities, where I mainly contribute with my astrophysical expertise.
